Badger Childhood Cancer Network is a non-profit organization, serving families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders, primarily focused on those treated at the American Family Children’s Hospital. Some of our programs include:

Providing information and assistance to the families of hospitalized children, including 'New Diagnosis Bags' with a parent binder, books on childhood cancer, toys, games and other distractions and comfort items during that first frightening hospitalization.

Offering educational materials on childhood cancer, back-to-school issues, coping with hair loss, nutrition, preparing for a bone marrow or stem cell transplant, dealing with grief and other essential topics our kids and families face, both in our hospital-based library in the AFCH 4th Floor Family Lounge and at our office on Segoe Road.

Sponsoring quarterly parties and other fun outings and activities so kids, their siblings and parents can enjoy themselves as families and share informal support with others who are on the same journey.

Providing emergency funds to families of area children with cancer who need help with transportation and other basic living expenses.

Supplying and maintaining the popular Pediatric Heme-Onc Hero Bead program at American Family Children’s Hospital.  Kids and teens collect beads that represent the many procedures and milestones of their personal cancer experience and string them onto cords, creating a permanent, touchable record of their strength and endurance.

Hosting a monthly Family Support Group, giving our parents a chance to dine together and share support while the kids play and meet one another in a fun, non-medical atmosphere.

Giving prepaid gas cards to families who must travel long distances for a child's treatments.

Helping make connections between families of children with similar diagnoses so that they can share information, practical tips and support.

Sponsoring an annual ‘Adopt-A-Family’ program during the holidays, offering donors the opportunity to purchase gifts and groceries for families in need whose children are on intensive treatment.

Supplying the "Ashley's Med Kit" program, providing a portable, lockable organization system to kids and teens with cancer to help keep track of medications, medication charts and other needed supplies. Started and initially funded by a teen survivor who wanted to help other kids and their families!

Supporting parent/staff initiatives to improve services for children and families at the American Family Children's Hospital.
