We supply “Ashley’s Med Kit” to young people with cancer and blood disorders. It is a portable, lockable organization system so kids and teens with cancer can store, transport and keep track of medications, medication charts and other needed supplies. The program was started and initially funded by leukemia survivor Ashley Eichhorn who came up with a great storage and carrying container during her own treatment that allowed her to bring all her medications to be reviewed by her nurse-practitioner at each clinic visit. The medical staff wanted all kids and teens to have such a great ‘med box’ so Ashley raised money to purchase them to give to other kids soon after diagnosis.
The current Med Kit is an insulated tote that can carry all sizes of medication and medical supplies. Most recently, the Ashley’s Med Kit program has been sponsored through fundraising by the members of Kappa Psi pharmacy fraternity at UW Madison.
